| Department at a glance |
Department was established in 1955. The M.Sc.(Ag.) programme was started in 1960 and Ph. D. in 1970.
Department awarded M.Sc.Ag. and Ph. D. degrees. Apart from teaching activities AICRP on Maize, Sorghum, Groundnut and Aromatic and Medicinal plants and two cess fund projects on Jatropha curcas and Custard apple are also running in this department. Renowned personality like Dr. R.S. Paroda ex DG ICAR is also product of this department. This department developed number of varieties and hybrids of maize, sorghum, small millets, opium poppy and groundnut.
Facilities:
Apart form capable faculty this department has library with good number of books, well equipped laboratories of Biotechnology, Plant Breeding/Seed Technology/Quality Breeding, Cytogenetics and two under graduate laboratories, Student research farm, Botanical Garden, Glass house facility.
